I don't want to go to college?

I will be a senior in high high school and will graduate next year. I feel like I don't want to go to college because I fear it will be too hard for me since I am just an average student in high school and not very smart(only scored a 16 on my act). It just doesn't feel like its for me if anyone else can understand that. But if I don't go to college I don't know what else I would do. I definitely would not go to the military. Could someone help me out and tell me any other options I have beside these two?

It's not really about how smart you are in college, but how much work, time, and effort that you are willing to put forward.

You have to ask yourself the question: If you don't go to college, will you regret it for the rest of your life?

    Hi,

I know how you feel. After school I decided not to go to college.. Everyone criticised me for it too and told me I was stupid. I was actually a straight A student though.

Anyway I found an average retail job at 18 and worked there 50 hours a week, saved 20 thousand a year and 5 years later ( I'm 22) I now have my own franchise with 6 employees so far. I think If I work at it I can be a self made millionaire by 30 :)

Just letting you know "college" isn't the be all and end all, it doesn't define you (despite what they say)

Look at high school drop out Donald Trump

Defer college, work or take a gap year and travel until you figure out what you want to do. Nothing worse than starting a degree your not 100% committed to.

A lot of people in college have no business being there and are gaining nothing, everybody assumes that having a degree is the only way to success but that couldn't be further from the truth.

Why don't you look into the trades, many of them pay much better than many college degrees and you can start making money much sooner without all the student loans to pay off. Think auto mechanic, industrial electrician, certified welder, etc.

Another good thing about the trades is that the jobs usually can't be shipped offshore to people who work for peanuts, even degrees such as engineering and computer science are heavily impacted by this.

I would say if you have a good like plan to support yourself after high school you don’t necessarily need college, but if you are unsure of what you want to do college is the best option.

College is a time for exploring you options. You can switch majors several times if you need to before finding what you like. Also college is not that hard academically, unless you major in something like astrophysics. There hardest part is learning how to handle all the new freedom you will have and manage your schedule. Most people flunk out because their mom isn’t there to tell them to wake up for class or that they can’t stay out till 2am on a school night every night.

By the way Donald Trump went to Penn - one of the best business schools in the country.

You know what, college degree is not only for smart people or a smarter one. Even you are not smart and you are afraid that will be it's hard for you because you know yourself being an average one in your high school days. The most important in it is that you face on the things that your hardly afraid of and after that you can say confidently to yourself that "I can".

There is nothing wrong with waiting a few years and figuring out what you want to do in life before you go to college.

Do you have access to funds? If you have money laying around, travel for a year and enjoy life. Something tells me you do not. If this is the case, your only option is to get out there and try to find some work right now.

    hello..

it seems like you have lack of self confidence.. remember always that nothing is impossible in this world and nothing is easy too. you will be graduate next year. its soon dear you have to just focus on your career because nobody will be with u to complete your profession .. so just be perfect for yourself and try to ignore the negative vibrations coming from others.. and after graduation you will do masters for wider scope in good jobs..just be positive for yourself..
