What will happen when I reset my iPad?
I was told to try this because one of my apps closes right when I click on it. I've tried everything, and resetting it is what's left. What exactly does that do? Will it delete anything or alter my apps?

well i got your problem.
1st there are many types of reseting options in your ipad while you go for reset.
like reset all setting,erase all contents and settings,reset network setting,reset keyboard setting, reset home screen layout and last reset location and privacy these options you will found in your reset line.
and came back to your problem i think your apps need to updated,those apps which opened and back to homescreen are out of date so i recommend you to have update your apps if not work that re download it and reseting never deletes your apps or contents there is only one reseting optino that is (erase all contents and setting) this options will delete all your apps data message contacts so try another reseting and believe me other reseting option won't delete your data and apps

you lose everything you downloaded in your iPad so before you reset it sync(when you do this you save all ur apps in ur itunes) your ipad to your itunes so after you reset it you can get back some of the programs that you want to have still.
