can you buy a season ticket on trains which give you free travel?
so my boyfriend has just moved up north , even before i had to get the train to see him its just its alot more expensive because the distance is further.
Im 16 and want to know if theres a season ticket or railcard in the uk that you can buy that gives you free travel. it would be very useful for more than just this one reason.
thank for replies. please do not comment on my long distance relationship although im only 16 we are happy and he goes to boarding school and will be going back there in september.

For the occasional trip a season ticket is useless - it only saves money if you travel at least four time each week. You can get a Young Person's Railcard which will give you one third off your fares, and if you book Advance tickets you can get them quite cheap (but you do have to travel on the specific train). Nothing gives you free travel!

A season ticket will give you unlimited travel between the two nominated stations. A zonal ticket will give you unlimited travel in the zones.
Make sure you do your maths though since it may be cheaper to get off-peak or advance tickets. The 16-25 railcard will give you 34% off all standard class tickets until 1st September
