Do you think it's just a coincidence?

George Osborne unveiled the "most generous tax breaks in the world" for shale gas producers.

It has emerged that Lynton Crosby's (Cameron's election Guru) firm Crosby Textor represents the Australian Petroleum and Exploration Association, a powerful group that campaigns for fracking.

The latest lobbying allegations come after it emerged that Mr Crosby’s firm acted for the tobacco giant Philip Morris, as the Government dropped its plans for plain packaging for cigarettes.

Update:

Sweet Pea, my question relates more to whether people think that Lynton Crosby is influencing Tory policies, given that he has interests in both of the above, not to whether you believe in fracking or not. I am though surprised that you are quite happy for them to go ahead with fracking, even though experts are saying that it could cause irreperable damage to our water supplies. We are not the USA which have huge areas of land, far removed from built up areas. But as you're up for it, I hope they use your area as the first testing ground.

The corporations run the world and ensure that so-called laws are held behind the development of technology and corporate control. The same financial factors behind the push for shale gas don't care about people or the environment. Whenever they inflict pain and suffering in the world they simply change their company brand or name and swap executives or give them a golden handshake to avoid further prosecution. Then we have those people who execute their right for real democracy by campaigning for freedom, sanity and common sense who are accused of lawlessness and disruption! We all know that our governments are really in the hands of the financial executives and bankers who forge policies and hamper laws to protect the people for their own self-interests. The worse part about it though is that these things are happening before our eyes and people are simply too concerned about their own small lives to really care about the planet upon which we live. Soon, everything will be in the hands of the corporate elite. People will look back and exclaim 'How did it get this bad?' Their conscience will respond,' Well.....what did YOU do to stop it?' The answer to this question should prove interesting!

There is no actual proof of this and anyway we need shale gas so I agree with fracking.
