I need help selecting a career, Marines or SWAT?

I want a job that I can use what I know, so I considered joining the marine corps. Then I talked it over with my girlfriend and she doesn't like the idea. So then I considered moving to Idaho, become an officer, and get a recommendation for swat. I figured its a less chance of me dying, but it pays less than the military and I plan on having a family. I can't decide and I could use a little help choosing a career. What do you guys recommend, what would you do, what are the disadvantages and benefits? Things of that nature, thanks.
