What would you like to know about training in Okinawa?

I am moving to Okinawa to train for 6-9 months and was asked to write about it. Imagine if you were thinking of doing this, what would you want to know?

Update:

@liondancer

are you training in a Shorin Ryu?

    First of all what are the customs. How to be polite and what is considered rude.

    I would want to know where to stay and who to train with (your recommendations and why).

    If you are in Urasoe City email me. I have some special questions.

    Liondancer gave a good answer, it is important for a foreign student to understand the customs of the country, and how they might differ from one locale to another. Knowing at least the basics of proper etiquette, both in and out of the dojo, would go a long way in helping to prevent unintentional insults and offences.

    I have always been interested in Okinawan styles, especially the early connection with Southern Chinese martial art and the emphasis they place on hojo undo and other training methods.

    Train well my friend.
