Why did all the links to members' Yahoo! Profile break?
In the Members list each member's ID is a link to their profile, of the form:
http://profiles.yahoo.com/shalfarley
(Note that the member's ID is in the URL, rather than the long hash string.)
These links used to work, for those members who linked their ID to their account, made their Profile visible, and marked some fields "Public". Now in all cases these links return:
"Not found
The page you were looking for doesn't exist. Go to your profile."
Likewise if you hover over the member's ID on an open message, and choose Profile from the drop-menu. You get the "Not found" error in all cases.
Is this a permanent change to Groups functionality (in which case, the IDs may as well be shown as plain text) or a temporary glitch due to some miscue between the Groups pages and the Profile pages?
Thanks for the link crazy_mom, I had forgotten about that. At the time I think I assumed you were right about it just being a problem with the member not linking their ID to their account, or not setting their Profile to be visible.
My profile is not private; you should be able to see it by clicking through to it from my Answers profile.
Someone pointed out to me that the IDs listed in the Author column of the Messages list have gone to plain text -- they are no longer links at all. That seems likely to be related.

*** I tried to locate your profile via the message, tried it again today. For a while now, just looking at the message page it has been plain text. You have to open the message to read it. Left side 'post by bla bla' is a drop down arrow and that's how one would now find the profiles if one has the members list closed. You can click on it, but it brings you to that same 'not found'. It's been like that ever since that plain text showed up.
** The only profile I can ever see is my own, and I find it hard to believe every one in all the groups I belong to have private profiles. Is your profile private? In a group we're both in, I get page not found on you as well. My profile is visible. I think it's a glitch or another soon to be new lost feature.
