Do I pick up the dog?

I'm sitting in a small chair using my laptop. My rotten pug girl has gotten up and is at my feet whining and barking at me to pick her up. Brat!

Would you move or tell the dog no? I've been saying no for 5 minutes and laughing at her. She is selectively deaf tonight. From her moaning you'd think I'm the meanest mom ever.

Update:

I picked the brat up before I finished writing the question. LOL

She is older and a rescue. She had 8 teeth pulled last Tuesday and may have a tumor in her mouth. I'm actually thrilled she is feeling well enough to bug me. We are still stuffed in the chair though. Good thing she is a tiny pug.

I wondered why people post things twice. Now I know, YA does it not you.

Update 6:

Thanks for all the answers. I know giving in isn't the best thing I swear. We have only had her a few months and as I said she is an older rescue that has had a tough life. Used as a breeding ***** until too old and then dumped. She was our first pug rescue and I was an immediate foster failure. We had to adopt. We have another rescue that will probably be with us until the end as she is even older and very unhealthy. I'm just happy GiGi made it thru another dental and her biopsy and enjoying even her whining.

I would do none of the above. Telling the dog no and laughing at her is still paying her attention, and that's what she wants. As long as her actions get her attention, even if it's negative attention, they will continue. Instead, ignore, ignore, ignore. As the behavior has already been successful, it will take much longer for her to give up than if you had ignored from the beginning.

It's also a sign that you need to teach a "go to" and settle so that you can send the dog to her bed, a rug, her crate, etc and get her to relax instead of letting her behave like a little spoiled brat. If course, these are behaviors that take time to teach and aren't going to help you right now.
