I assume you mean petroleum oil rather than olive oil?

It's a hydrocarbon fuel found in the ground often referred to as a fossil fuel. Some probably is formed from remains of organic material buried in Noah's flood and this would indeed be fossil fuel. There is some evidence that oil can also be formed by bacteria acting on substances of non-organic origin.

Whatever its source there are clear signs that we are using it at a much faster rate than it is being produced and we have already passed peak oil.
