Replacing Fluorescent with Pendant?

I have a fluorescent fixture above kitchen sink and would like to replace it with a pendant. Ceiling is a wood panel with wires coming through a small hole to the fluorescent fixture. No access from above that I can get to. Almost certainly no electrical box. Any ideas or am I stuck with a fluorescent tube?

Someone somehow got up in the ceiling to do the wiring. You will need to find a way up there to do it right. You might be amble to remove one of the wood panels to get access. Sometimes you will find access in panel in the garage. Check the switch which controls the fixture and determine if the wires are in conduit. If they are it means there a another box someplace. If they are not in conduit but just running loosely into the box, someone cheated. could this, but then I have years of experience Call an electrician.
