MTb slick placement? On my mtn bike?
I have a knobby tire and a slick tire for my mtn bike should the slick go on the front or back? I use it for serious trails and serious road use so it has to be good for both applications can I get an experts opinion on this?

On road, the slick tire will be better on the front because smooth tread tires give better traction on pavement. Off road, the knobby tire will be better on the front because knobby tires grip better on dirt. You always want to have the tire with better traction on the front wheel

Use 2 knobby tires on the trail and 2 slick tires on the road. However if you had a actual road bike, that would be much better on the road.
1. Why would you use a slick tire on serious trails? (You shouldn't)
2. Do you NOT want traction? (If you are using a slick on trails then apparently not)
3. Also why would you use one of each? (You really must be over thinking things)

You would put the slick on the front and back for road use and knobbys for the dirt. I used Kenda Kross tires on my mountain bike and it can handle both. Not the best for mud though.
