What was the last little thing that?

Made huge progress in your training?

I had my grappling instructor showed me some stuff to tighten up a couple of my subs. But all in all it has really helped me tighten up my entire game.

As all martial artist know the little things are huge. What are some of your experiences in this?

    I can't say what was my last as there is always something that I'm picking up.

    But 2 of the most instrumental were when I broke my leg many years ago but I came to every practice anyway. I began to help teach even though I could demonstrate. I learned so much detail by teaching and I became better because of it.

    Another one was when we had an invite to train in Colorado with the Olympic team. I was very cocky even though I was a small teen. During randori I ended up being paired with 7th or 8th Dan O' Sensei Phil Porter. In my head I said I don't care what his rank is. I'm going to destroy him. I'm young, fast, in good shape, and strong. This old man is going down.

    Well, he owned me. There was nothing I could do. He even told me about it as he did it. It was trash talking. but wisdom. He even told me how I thought I was going to beat him with my strength and speed. He said he n longer has those thing but now he makes up for it with wisdom. It was a very humbling experience. I never underestimated anyone else. I learned to improve my technique and not rely on my physical ability. I became a better martial artist after getting my rear end handed to me. It was a great lesson.

    Most recent thing that I tweaked a little was from a silly computer game. I knew about rooting concept and drawing up the power from the ground and worked on it for years. Then I recently rediscovered Toribash.

    Essentially the point of the game is to make your little humanoid figure throw the other figure off balance and make them touch the ground with something other than hand or foot. This task is accomplished by moving the many joints by expanding, constricting, holding, relaxing, or twisting.

    This game gave me a whole new appreciation and understanding of how our body works, and it has improved a little bit of everything by giving me the thinking tool to understand the techniques more technically.

    PS For those who want to try the game, the game does have its limits in realistic application. The game’s biggest downfall is the very light gravity and lack of friction, which will make applying most of martial arts techniques impossible or impractical. But if you are looking for a fun game that might help you gain some insight, the game is free to d/l and play on the toribash’s main website.

    i wouldn't call it little but last January I decided quite foolishly so to do 1000 kicks per day for 40 days

    Just 4 kicks. I used to suck at kicking

    The roundhouse

    The back

    I was almost hospitalized with fever and all but at the end of it my kicking technique and power increased enormously its effortless now

    I was always a very hasty child. Trying to improve faster then I was able to be taught. This always got me into alot of trouble believe it or not. I was constantly causing fights to test everything in real time, and just flat out being an idiot. Until finally my Krav Maga instructor said to me "You are eager and that's awesome, but you cant climb a ladder with missing steps, and you cant cross lifes bridges if you keep burning them down". Since then I have slowed down alot, and have done much selfreflecting. That one statement pretty much changed who I was. Does that count?

    Oh, and one time my boxing coach told me to strike through my opponent not my opponent himself. That caused me to greatly increase striking power.
