What tools do I need for nail art designs?
Ok so I'm pretty much clueless on how to do nail art like these https://www.google.com/search?q=nail+art&tbm=isch&... I mean like what kinds of tools do you use to get perfect dots, squares, stripes, etc. I've tried looking at nail supplies in stores but I don't see anything specifically for doing patterns. I've tried to use tape and that doesn't work either, when I peel off the tape it always takes off the polish too. So what kinds of tools do I need?

Some basic tools are dotting tools (eBay, amazon, etc.), striping tape, stripers (The thin nail brushes), and nail glitter and gem. Just look up on YouTube how to do different things with these! It also takes a little bit of practice:)

don't go out and buy a dotting tool! it was a waste of money for me, i just use a flat headed pin stuck into the eraser end of a pencil, you can youtube some examples of people making them, they're incredibly simple. If you're planning on getting serious with patterns, but don't have such a steady hand, there is a nail stamp by a company called konad, I haven't personally used it, but I have seen many fantastic reviews on it, and everyone seems to enjoy using it. As for perfect squares, you should be able to purchase a square shaped punch at a craft store, or arrange four pieces of tape in such a way to create a square stencil without having to use a punch. But to be perfectly honest, you probably won't be using squares very often in nail art, it's not a particularly flattering shape on the nail. As far as making lines on your nails, striper nail polishes are your best bet, they have a long thin brush instead of a wide one, unfortunately, the polish inside them is cheaply made and tends to get gloopy and gross quite quickly. I recommend going to a dollar store or drug store to purchase these, but i wouldn't go out and buy a whole bunch of different colours. Just buy one with a brush you like and keep the brush and ditch the polish. You can clean it off with acetone and use it with your regular nail polishes. As for your problem with the tape peeling off- along with the rest of your nail polish- that's a problem that happened to me all the time! You just need to wait for the base colour polish to completely dry before you even mention the word "tape", I just wear the base nail polish for the day and get back to adding the design later, or even getting to it the next day. Secondly, the tape only needs to be sticky enough to not slide around on the nail, so get your piece of tape and stick it to the back of your hand and peel it off and repeat until it's barely sticky. This usually works for me, I hope this helps! Please don't go out and buy a whole bunch of expensive tools- especially when you are just starting out. Get creative with the tools you already have around you!
Have fun :)
