Life goes on is the best thing to do. Time will heal it don't talk to the other person what so ever at all. The only time you can later make contact if you have too is when you don't even think about the person anymore at all. Just start living life as it should be and try not to get into a relationship until you have 0 thought or feelings towards the person you broke up with.

Depends on the reason how the heart became broken.
As stated before, time and getting something reasonable and distracting to do help.
Or do as i did, don't bother to mend the heart. "Leave it lying shattered around, so it can not be broken again."
Of course, i don't recommend this way of action, since you'll become pretty much careless of anything.

I know this is going to sound stupid and cliche but time. Time heals everything. Just believe that one day it will be better. Hanging out wih your friends helps too. And chocolate. Always chocolate.

You cannot think about that person. Do not call the person. Do not have any contact with the individual and start doing things you always loved to do then eventually you will grow and be able to date other people and accept your new lover for them and not compare your new lover to your old.

do something you love or your hobby or works, makes sure you're busy so time can heal your heart, it will not heal fully but at least it can give you some space so you can breath again
