I'm an old gal now, finished with the monthlies (thank goodness). I HATED my period. For most of my menstruating years, I could find no predictable pattern to it, it's just come and go at will so I always had to be prepared. But it inevitably came gushing around when I went on vacation, especially if that entailed having to sit in a plane or car or some other conveyance where getting to the bathroom wasn't the easiest thing. Couldn't wear white pants or white skirts. And early in my years, tampons were not what nice girls used (we use pads that you had to secure onto a belt you wore). Pads were standard sizes--didn't have any of these extra long, extra thick "night" pads, nor any pantiliners. It was one size fits all. My periods were kind of heavy and I could bleed through a pad in no time, or later through a tampon and in school, they don't let you go to the bathroom every 30 mins so I had to carry extra panties with me so I could change to clean ones between classes. And the smell, that dried blood smell. Especially in summer when it was hot. Most embarrassing memory about my period was my best friend's wedding, I was the maid of honor and of course my period came right at the reception and I bled through my MOH dress--but didn't know it immediately so was dancing out on the floor showing off my stain on the back of my dress (and no one, not even my best friend said ANYTHING!)--until I went to the bathroom and found bloody panties (and found the blood stained on my dress). Now that I've gone through menopause, I can tell you young girls, it is not horrible to be post menopausal--you no longer have to spend money on the feminine hygiene supplies, you can buy and wear anytime all those pretty panties, you can wear white, you can have sex whenever (just play safe), you don't have to pack half a suitcase of supplies when you travel. I love it.

I used to get them so badly I had to take a few days off school. I started my period when I was 10 and always got them heavily and had bad painful cramps. I used to pay over €30 a month on sanitary pads. When I was in school I had to change every hour and it was pretty obvious was I was doing. Not much helped relieve them, just had to give it time.
Now though I don't get them too badly.

No, I'm pretty lucky EVERY period I have I end up going to the bathroom right before I start and wiping myself and seeing the blood. I even get up naturally at night and will find out before it ever touches my undies. Weird period senses lol, and I've had my period for 9 years now xD
