what is best floor tile for damp basement?
We have had several instances where the finished lower level of our home has gotten wet, one from a plumbing leak, and another from leakage where a deck fastens to the house. We want an attractive waterproof flooring material to replace the carpeting. We prefer to avoid ceramic due to its cold surface.

Traffic Master Allure.. Its a PVC type flooring that is installer friendly. The planks ( or squares) are sealed together and water proof from above and below.
.I ve got it and mine went through a spring thaw that had water running through the basement..
Its a free floating floor so almost any one can install it.
Ceramic is best but you said thats out. I had ceramic in my basement of my last house and I just used some area rugs in walk ways and in front of the entertainment center..
Any questions you can email me through my avatar. GL

Pour a concrete floor first, then float a thick epoxy flooring material over it. It's done a lot these days in all sorts of places and it's really comfortable. I used to work in a cave (no joke, it was part of a winery) and it was generally pretty cold in there but the floor was always comfortable, pretty soft to the touch (think plasticy) and easy to stand on for long periods of time without creating sore backs and knees.
You'll either have to do a little research locally or on line to find the right product and someone to apply it but it's literally a liquid that gets poured over the concrete and then allowed to cure. It also comes in some pretty cool colors.
