Now that Perth is officially Australia's most expensive city (AFL Related)?

Just wondering, do Fremantle and West Coast get the higher cost of living allowance that sydney and GWS get? It wouldn't worry me if we didn't as long as Sydney was to give up theirs which I understand they are prepared to do. What are your thoughts?

Just because the AFL gives Sydney clubs extra $ in their salary cap. they had to come up with a reason why? the very first bull sh*t answer they could come up with is it's Sydney's high cost of living.

The real reason why. is because Sydney's teams have to be competitive because the AFL has the NRL to compete with. something they don't have to worry about in other states. except for Melbourne Storm but look what happened to them?

I'll post a question soon so you can see why the AFL used that reason about Sydney's high cost of living. it was a very bold move by the then VFL back in the 80's to move the Swans to Sydney. it was a gamble at any cost. this was one of them.

    Cheers.

I doubt it. Aussie rules is the major sport in the west, incentives to have good players in Sydney and Qld are about increasing public support more than anything else. Melbourne has been a more expensive city to live in than Sydney in the past decade (at least in terms of rentals) and to my knowledge salary caps didn't increase for Melbourne clubs. Maybe they can lift the cap a bit and offer more compo to players heading west but it's probably not a big concern for the AFL.

The whole idea is laughable - they don't reduce Adelaide, Port or Hawthorn because they live in cheap places :-)

Just shows what a joke you can create when you start making exceptions to rules. Kinda like when they excluded tampons from GST but not condoms ... 'cept for the tampons and condoms bit ... or sumpin' :-)
