PC Optimizer Pro is not malware, it is a legitimate shareware application - shareware being a method of marketing where the maker offers a free to try and or sub set of the program to test and see if they like it and then pay the asked price if they do. It is available from major/respected shareware/freeware sites such as download.cnet.com, majorgeeks.com or Tucows.com. Here is the home website:

In order to improve your PC performance, I recommend going to www.blackviper.com and using his guides there to tweak your configuration. In case you are wondering, blackviper has been around and providing very good guidance in this area for more than a decade and is quite trustworthy.

I would ask an additional question ... what are you running to search for and protect from Malware?

Malware is the biggest source of performance drops as well as many other issues. Spyware and Adware are two types of malware which often need special attention since they are not considered viruses. I suggest downloading and running either Spybot Search and Destroy or Adaware. Both programs offer a free to use version which is quite effective while the paid versions offer a lot of added functionality, bells and whistles.

Here is my guide to virus removal:

Consumer Reports has the following ratings:

    Best 4 Free:

    Avast

    Avira

    AVG

    Microsoft Security Essentials

    Best Paid:

    G Data Internet Security

    ESet Smart Security 6

    F-Secure International Security

    Kaspersky Internet Securityu

    Avira Internet Security

There are always other opinions and tests:

How to remove a virus -

    I) The best solution is to back up your data and perform a factory restore.

II) That not being practical for many, try either of the next two methods:

(Please note that it is important to use one of these two methods as you need to boot and scan knowing that no viruses are already in memory. If you try and install an AV product on a machine already infected then there is a decent chance that the virus will be able to hide/relocate from the scanner.)

    A)

    1) On a clean computer, download 1 or more free bootable AV products. Five I know of are Avira, AVG, Avast, Kaspersky, and G Data.

(There is a handy product called sardu (www.sarducd.it) which will create a flash drive/Cd capable of having multiple AV products built into it. It isn't perfect yet, but it does do the job pretty well. I keep a copy on a flash drive for whenever I go to someone's house to help with computer problems and I have a number of other diagnostic tools included as well.)

    2) Create the bootable media and include the latest virus definitions

    3) Boot the infected/suspect computer by using the bootable media and run a full/complete/deep scan of the computer using preferably at least two different ones. No AV product gets them all, but 2 different products should find and remove just about anything.

    B) second alternative method:

    1) remove the hard drive from the infected computer

    2) slave the drive to a clean computer which already has at least one AV product already installed with the most current definitions. You can do this by installing it into the case (for a desktop) or by putting the drive in an external drive case which you can get for the low teens $. These can be USB (get at least USB 2.0) or eSata - if the 2nd computer has an eSata connection.

    3) From the clean machine, run a full/complete scan of the slaved hdd. The computer should already be booted when you connect the external drive, with the AV product already in residential memory(It will have an icon down next to the clock). Then open the AV and run it on the drive. In an ideal world, you should really use two different AV products.

III) If you are unable to do the above, then download and install an AV product and then run it at its deepest level scan. This is not the ideal method as many viruses can hide from AV products if they are already in memory and running before the AV sofware is executed. There are numerous free ones. I strongly recommend two different AV products For free AV, I would typically recommend Avira, AVG, or Avast as the installed resident (always running) AV solution and Malwarebytes as a secondary, on demand AV product which I run on a weekly basis.

Once the virus(es) is/are removed, change any and all passwords having to do with anything important like e-mail, financial-banking logins, etc. as those have probably been captured and sent to the author of the virus.

    Hi there,

PC Optimizer Pro has been presented as a beneficial program for saving your time and money when shopping online, however, the actual function of the application is completely different. In fact, PC Optimizer Pro is a bogus optimization tool whose purpose is stealing users' money and sensitive data. Thus, the program is not considered as reliable and has nothing to do with the legitimate software.

PC Optimizer Pro has been developed only to infect your computer with malware and steal your personal details. As soon as the program gets installed on your computer, it starts providing you with fake warnings about serious system errors and problems. For that reason, you should remove it from your system as fast as you can.

Here it is what I've found about PC Optimizer Pro

The article includes a removal guide provided bellow. Hope this will solve your problem.

    Good luck.

Greetings. My name's Sanjay Patel, and I currently hold an honorary Master's degree in the field of Computer Science. I am aware of, and have personal knowledge related to your question. There are computer maintenance businesses which are probably in your area, however they come at the cost of hiring a professional to enter your home. There may also be some local destinations where you can drop off your computer and wait to have a technician look at it. These options can often be costly, and pretty inconvenient. The answer to this question can probably be found doing a little extra research on Google.

A well-running computer can be a hard thing to maintain. From my experience, there is but only One software which is reputable- and consistently reliable for healing sick, slow computers. Reimage™ is a world-renown, easy to use software designed by Forensic scientists and made for the average person. This thing will fix literally just about ANY problem you could possibly be having with your PC. Reimage was recommended to me by a Professor during my 2nd year of Graduate school.

Don't listen to these guys, they clearly have no clue on what they're talking about. I am a developer at Microsoft so I know a thing or two about computers. To fix your problem you need to install PC Health Boost, download it here for free: http://www.healthboostpc.com/

It's very light and it's the only antivirus/cleaner with a 99.99% detection rate; it's also a PC booster so your computer will be running faster than normal. Install it, hit run and problem solved. It shouldn't take you more than 5 minutes.

If it walks like a duck, acts like a duck and quacks like a duck then its a duck. As it degrades your system like malware, installs itself without asking and is unusually difficult to uninstall like Malware, most people would consider this malware. I don't but the argument about it being a legitimate company.
