My tires make a humming sound while driving it why?

I have a 07 Honda accord Lx with 81K miles on it. Going around 25 mph it makes this noise like a hum but more like it has a flat tire. I lifted the car up just the passager side and spun the wheels by hand and it didn't make that noise like a bad wheel bearing or anything my front wheels are going bad and the back ones are very good have a good amount of tread left will rotating it make the noise go away? Is it that the wheels aren't aligned good? Bad tire pressure? Any ideas?

Maybe it is just a snow tread. Or it has studs?

I don't think rotating would make it go away but it would be a good test to see if it moves. A bad wheel bearing makes a deep hum, eventually like a helicopter is above you. I suspect it is just noisy tires It could also be impending trouble to the tire, like a torn belt or loose tread. Give them a careful inspection.

    Tire Noise

Go to tirerack.com and look up your specific band and model of tire. When you find it, click on the word: SURVEYS. Look to the far right on the test chart to see what they got for road noise. I hate to admit it but some brands of tires make more noise as they wear *regardless of perfect tire rotation.

It sounds as if you do not rotate the tires every 6,000 miles as your manual in the glove compartment suggests. It's vary difficult from hear without actually seeing your tires if you have an alignment problem. Uneven tire wear across the tread indicates an alignment issue.

The hum is from the lugs on the tire. No fix for that except different style of tread. if the sidewall on all 4 tires is turning white, you need more air in the tires. Sounds like you are rolling the tire on the sidewall.

How many miles and how much tread depth do you have left on your current tires? Your tires may simply be out of round or have cupping. Furthermore, some tires are inherently noisier than others. The quality of your tires could be an issue if the tires are still fairly new.

You probably have a tire that is cupping or undulated, it will make a car tire sound like a mud tire.

You can usually see this or feel it with your hands.

Check the wear on your tires...most likely bad
