Can my soon to be ex sister-in-law try to get part of my house?
I live in a house my brother & I inherited a few years ago. The house, a 1991 Honda and some money are in a trust. It is not in my name. She said she wanted another house we owned together, but it is already in my name only so she can't get it. We live in CA and I am afraid of the community property laws. Thank you for your help.

Let me add that she can NOT touch an inheritance BUT if there was 'upgrades' done during the time she was married to him, then it could be possible she would get 1/2 of the amount of the cost of upgrades.
***just talked with attorney about the inheritance laws, I am RIGHT!***

LMAO... She's delusional. No judge in their right mind is going to give her YOUR house. You didn't marry her, your brother did! When the judge sees that it's not only his house, but yours, he's not going to give ANY of it to her. It's in both of your names.
You should still contact an attorney about this, but I'm telling you, she can't touch it since both names are on the house. Not even a part of the house.

Anything you inherit is personal property, NOT a marital asset. Your sister-in-law has no legal rights to anything you own, whether you inherited it or it's a marital asset. You should talk to a lawyer and get his advice concerning all your assets.
