It would be much worse than the Great Depression, and because of the size of our economy it would be even worse than the economic collapse of the German Mark back in the 1920s. It would cause a ripple that would have a devastating affect on the world-wide economy. Of course, it would have a much more devastating affect on our standard of living. Hyper-inflation would almost immediately take affect. Just imagine spending $1000 for a loaf of bread. The economy would almost immediately come to a grinding halt. Production would gradually come to a halt. Goods and services would quickly become scarce. Utilities would eventually shut down. People in need of special medical services wouldn't receive treatment. Civil-unrest such as rioting and looting would prevail in every major city. In time, the country would be in complete anarchy. It would make the 1973 movie: "Soylent Green" look like a picnic. Of course, this is my opinion, the reality is that it could be even worse than what I just described! Let's all pray that this never happens!!

The streets of Beirut will look like Disneyland in comparison to the blood running in American streets.
When the rich lose all their money they'll be coming after anything/everything we have left. And the streets will run red.

There are so few dollars floating around, that the economy has not even restored to an adequate level. Nothing can collapse if it doesn't get off the ground.
