Enlisting into the Army as an E-3? Help?

I am 17 years old, and i am in the DEP.

i am doing the future soldier training so that means i'll be an E-2,

I am also doing the buddy program where I have a friend enlist with me so I will be an E-3 when entering basic training (i guess?? let me know if i am wrong, im trying to understand This is army)

So if i enlisted as an E-3, will i still be an E-3 when i graduate from Basic training?

Thank you!

Update:

im asking because i don't understand if i will be an E-3 graduating or an E-4 or what?

im confused -.-

You'll be an E-3 (Private First Class) if you recruit your friend and you do the Future Soldier task list.

You will remain E-3 (PFC.) until approx. 1.5 years after you finish basic training and get to your unit. Upon then, you'll be an E-4 Specialist or Corporal if you're good enough.

I came in as a E-1 and got E-2 from Stripes for Buddies a week after I enlisted, got promoted the next RSP weekend before I headed off to basic. I'm National Guard, and have no idea how that's going to work for the Active Army.

I got promoted to E-3 after AIT because I hit my time in service mark, you won't get promoted just for completing basic training or AIT.

You will not be enlisting as an E-3. You will be enlisting as an E-2. Currently the only way to enlist as an E-3 is to have an Associates Degree. You can only enlist as an E-4 with a Bachelors Degree.

You will finish your training as an E-2.

If your Recruiter told you that you will be an E-3, he/she should probably look at USAREC Message 13-134.

Huh, I'm not familiar with that. I entered as an E-3 because I had an associate's degree when I joined. Took me awhile before I became and E-4. You can get promoted while you're in training to an E-2 or an E-3, but only a select few get promoted if they proved themselves. They don't promote you to E-4 until after you're done with basic and AIT. Promotions are usually based on time in grade and time in service. You can get waived for early promotion if you stand out and do a good job. Soon as you start getting promoted to E-5, it's competition, because slots are limited for all sergeant ranks. E-1 to E-4 has unlimited slots. E-4 Corporals are pretty rare to find though, considering they're not a big necessity. We only have one. Some units don't have any.

The only way to get E-4 is to either enlist with a bachelors degree or to have two years in the Army. No one just gets promoted for graduating BCT.

You'll be an E-3 upon completion of BCT too...

I'm in Navy DEP, so idk how applicable this is to you, but I'm pretty sure rating is the same. You graduate boot at E2 regardless of anything else, and then if you do the buddy program you get E3 right outta boot.

You will be E-3 for at least 18 months. Unless you get demoted.
