Dish Network DVR.. Which TV scheduled the program to be recorded?

I am renting a room and I have TV2. When I am watching TV the timer keeps popping up to record shows. I don't want to cancel someones recording if I don't have too. Is there a way to see what TV scheduled the recording? When I look to see what is scheduled some say TV1 and others say TV2. I am wondering if the previous tenant didn't cancel their recordings before moving. Then if I look at the shows that have been recorded they say TV1 or TV2, which i am guessing at this point is which tv did the actual recording. I need to know if there is a way to determine who programed the recording. THANK YOU!!

By default, when a Dish Network DVR wants to record a show, it will use the TV2 tuner to do it.

It doesn't matter which TV (actually, TV remote) configured the recording, the DVR will always try to use TV2 first. If the TV2 tuner is already in use, then and only then will it use the TV1 tuner. So, finding out which tuner recorded a specific show is not necessarily who entered that recording.

So this means you're going to have to sit down with the other tenant, and go through the TV list to determine which shows were programmed by the previous tenant.

You should also work out a system such that if both of you want to watch the same show, the two of you can figure out if the other one has already watched that episode or not, so it can be deleted. One system I've heard people use is:

    * If you start watching a show and it's at the beginning, then the other person hasn't watched it yet. When you finish the show, DON'T DELETE IT. Instead, leave the recording at the end.

    * If you start watching a show and it's at the end, then this means the other person HAS watched it already and is done with it. When you are also done, you should delete the show.

Finally, you might want to see about having the owner upgrade to a Hopper DVR. The Hopper has 5 separate tuners, so it can record more shows simultaneously, and also help avoid the problem you're having where your output switches to a different channel because of a recording.
