That is something you need to decide on your own if it isn't mandatory. It is great exercise to prepare you for some of what you will go through in basic but there is a little risk. Personally, when I was a recruiter I didn't want to have the Future Soldiers do anything out of the ordinary within 30 days of their ship date because if they hurt themselves they would end up not shipping. If you are scheduled to ship really soon it would suck if you sprain your ankle and MEPS doesn't let you ship over it.

There's nothing that I experience greater than a satisfactory lengthy hike into and UP a mountain. However, with two young children (2 and 8months) it has been intricate to do these days. Last time used to be about 2.5 years in the past. My wife and i went to the White Mountains at the same time she was once 6 months pregnant - we did twelve miles! Excellent for her!

The Army has gotten soft. You're able to use electronics in basic training, how are you supposed to go from a civilian into a soldier but still have access to things that give you civilian habits. 10 miles is nothing, prove me wrong. I run all the time by myself and with my recruiter and pt is good no matter what. If you're questioning whether you should pt or not because it's not mandatory what are you going to do when it's your responsibility to pt on your own?

The French Foreign Legion does something called "Beasting" it's a world class march that even makes Navy Seals say "f•ck that" its a ritual the Legionnaires do that complements their motto "March or Die" it's a 3 day, 125 mile, 60lbs ruck sack march to harden its soldiers. I suggest you get to it, do you want to be a cup cake? or do you want to be a beef cake?

"You are Legionnaires in order to die, I will send you somewhere, where you can die"- French General Negrier

They are the sons of France, not by the blood they inherited, but by the blood they gave.
