This is either a belt, power steering pump, or the water pump. Did you check your power steering reservoir? Also, do any of the belts looks glazed or glossy on the side that hits the pulleys? What type car is it and is it just 1 serpentine belt? Glazed or glossy looking belt are old and need to be replaced. They will leave you stranded, but an easy fix.

It is probably the belt. If you don't know a whole lot about fixing cars yourself, take it in to get looked at. When it comes to cars, it is better to catch a problem early than let it go, it will get expensive.

  • the belt is loose. if you pull it off and rough all of the surfaces of the pulleys. the belt should be replaced also. reinstall and tighten it back up.

it's either your Serpentine belt or fan belt or alternator belt.

i had the same problem & a friend of mine put new belt(s) on & i never heard that noise again.

hope this helps & good luck.

It could be pulley bearing if your belt is fairly new.
