Why does my dog huff and puff so much?
We have a little lhasa apso that we have had for years and ever since we got him he huffs and puffs so much, when hes hyper sometimes he even gags on himself. He's a small dog(18lbs) with little hair and its not even hot out. Why does he puff SO much. Btw he is 12.

the older they get they have some trouble breathing wish i knew why but have you asked your vet at the of twelve they do get slower and have to breath more cause they cant get enought air just take it in and love it

Well first your dog is 12 which is 84 in dog years and if he is overweight for his breed that may be a problem too... So just be ready to take him to the doctor and he may die in a year or so... Sorry to say that though. Good Luck

He's old and probably over weight plus a dog breathes through it's mouth giving you the belief that it's huffing and puffing.
