Will my P205/65r15 tires fit onto 17 inch rims?

Question

I have a 1991 Mercedes Benz 300se will the tires I currently have P205/65r15 fit onto a 17 inch 7 spoke 5x112 bolt pattern chrome rims? Is there a website I could figure this out on?

The "15" in the tire size is the wheel diameter....therefore a 15" tire would be very loose on a 17" wheel....

No.  Actually the tire wouldn't even fit, because it would be too tight for a larger diameter rim than the inside diameter of the tire.  You should be able to see it just by placing the tire in front of the rim.  The last number (15) is the rim size.   Below is a website to figure this out.

The last two digits in the tire size, in your case 15 indicate the rim size the tires were made to be used with so the 17 rims you have won't work with those tires.

Physically impossible.  15 inch diameter tires will not fit on 17 inch rims.  If you want to upgrade to a larger diameter rim larger diameter tires would be required.

you need 205/50r17 tires. to put onto your 17 inch rims. that last number the 15, is for 15 inch rims. those tires are 2 inchs too small.

No. The r15 means it has a radius of 15 inches.
