Main mistake of foreign people is thinking what "Kalinka", "Ochi Chernie" and many other good songs are folk. They are not. They are romances with music on lyrics with certain authors from XIX century.

The name in Russian means Black Eyes, but that means something else in English. Sometimes I see it listed as Ukrainian, but I know it in Russian.
