Stereo receiver with Iphone?

My sister is looking for a stereo or home theater receiver that not only allows music streaming, but also to control the receiver's functions by app (in effect replacing the remote). We're trying to keep the price as low as possible. Any suggestions?

If you don't mind going older; you can get an Onkyo TX-NR515. This unit has USB input for your ipod/iphone/usb-stick; several HDMI ports for your other devices, network playback streaming of Rhapsody, Pandora, last.fm, Slacker, Sirius/XM Online, Aupeo; as well as DLNA and PC's off your network. There is a mobile app that will let you control *some* of the major functions of the amplifier; like power, source, and volume; and makes it really easy to use the network streaming. You however need the remote to access some of the more advanced functions one is not likely to need on a daily basis.

In addition to that; it also features a rather advanced video processing engine; able to upscale your video to 1080p; or any other video standard; even the new 4K. And this includes upscaling and processing for your old analog devices as well.

You can pick one of these up new for around $350 now; as it's last year's model. If you go on to eBay and search; there is an authorized reseller of factory refurbished units that are now going for; last I checked; $229. I highly recommend going with a factory refurbish. Not only are they much cheaper; but they're also *much* more reliable than a brand-new unit.

I personally own one of these units; and I can say with total confidence that it is an extremely excellent value for the money when you take in to consideration how many features they packed in to the thing.
