Copyright question regarding teacher made and shared material?

Been doing a bit of research and can't find a specific answer to my question.

I have a ASL book which I really like to use with my students. I am in the process of creating some teacher-made printables and often share them with other teachers/parents to use for personal and classroom use. My question is, if I cite the book, can I use their ASL images without fear of running into copyright issues if I share them with others. (No selling involved.) Thanks for any insight!

What you need to look up is the Fair Use principle. Teachers have a little leeway in copying things. If it's only a small part of a book, and there isn't time to ask for permission, they are allowed to make copies to hand out for a class. However, if they are going to use these handouts on an ongoing basis, they are supposed to ask the publisher for permission.

Have you tried using images.google.com? Chances are there are images on sites that grant permission to use their pictures.
