an employee who has failed to turn up for work on there past 2 shifts spread over 3 days, no attempts to contact the office, several calls to them to see if they are unwell etc, and thanks to the world of Facebook i know this person was well(health) and out drinking on both nights,
there attendance record is poor as it is,
where would the employer stand. ?

I would expect that employee to be sacked based on what you have written
unless he can provide details of why he was off work and the employer accepted the reason
