Taking items back to store?

If I buy an item at a store but I want to take it back so I do and get store credit but keep the receipt. Then I buy the exact same item on ebay cheaper and take it back to the store would it work? What kind of legal issues is there and what law is this under?

There is no legal issues except for fraud if they want to pursue it. But honestly, they'll just say "No" to your face. They have it in their file that you returned something with your receipt already so they'll know. But you won't get lawyers knocking on your door to suit you. That'll cost them higher than the price for the item.
