    I'm having trouble finding the verse where it says "and on the first day God created apparent erosion". Most of earth's erosion took place during the cataclysmic worldwide flood depicted in the Bible.

    The earth is dynamic by design. Of course you have heard of the theory of plate tectonics. There is sufficient evidence to support the theory. However there is still much to learn. It will take many thousands of years before we really understand how the crust of the earth changes over time. This is the guiding feature behind changes do to erosion.

    For instance there is literally mountains of evidence that the Rocky Mountains in the central US were once every bit as tall as the Himalayas in Asia are now. Erosion wore them down.

    When God first designed the earth to be the future home of humans, he put in place all of the features of earth. I am sure we will find out much more as time goes on. By constantly renewing the earths surface, we get an ever changing landscape. This feature has another effect that ensures our survival. The interior of the earth, the core, is spinning. This gives us a strong magnetic field thereby shielding the surface from death dealing radiation.

    The large moon causing tides also contributes to erosion. But without it, the wobble would cause devastating climate change in unpredictable manners. As it is we are in a stable environment with an axial tilt of about 23 degrees giving us our seasons, spring, summer, winter and fall.

    All of this is general knowledge available to all. IF they were inclined to do a little research.

    How did he know? Put it like this.Jehovah knows from the start the finish. He doesn't do anything rashly. After all, the earth is just a very small speck in the cosmos. It doesn't even rate a single grain of sand in the Sahara desert in comparison with what is out there.

    What does Jehovah tell us of the future of the earth will be? Several references in the Bible are there telling us the earth will be here forever. The word translated forever in the Bible literally means 'to time indefinite'. Think about that. That should clear up a lot of misunderstandings some like to criticize the Bible for. Forever does not mean eternity or infinite time.

    Here is a place in the Bible that talks about the far future of the planet. Psalm 102:25-28

    25 Long ago you laid the foundations of the earth itself,

    And the heavens are the work of your hands.

    26 They themselves will perish, but you yourself will keep standing;*

    And just like a garment they will all of them wear out.

    Just like clothing you will replace them, and they will finish their turn.

    27 But you are the same,* and your own years will not be completed.

    28 The sons of your servants will continue residing;

    And before you their own offspring will be firmly established.”

    But no matter what the future of the human family turns out to be, the earth will remain our ancestral home
