Nintendo ds lite not working, need help.?

It has actually not been working for a very long time, but I've decided to now look into it.

This is what's wrong with it: The hinges don't work and the R and L buttons don't either. And instead of buying a new expensive one for a bill I'd rather try to fix it. I've come across many "full housing" repair kits and I think those are what I need, but I'm not sure. Will those fix it? They have the buttons and shells and hinges but I'm not even that sure on how to do it. So can you help me out by putting a link to a video or website addressing this? It'd be greatly appreciated.

But please tell me if that's what I need to fix my ds. It works; it's just the hinges and buttons that need fixing.
