light switches for entryway and porch: Is there a standard for which switch goes where?
I have a double box next to the front door in the entryway of my house. I'm installing one switch for the front porch and one switch for the interior room. Is there a standard for which switch goes closest to the door and which switch is further away? I know it will work both ways, just wondering if one way is more correct than the other way. I'm in the US btw.

The usual preference is that the home interior light switch would be closest to the door opening so that if/when you arrive home at night or someone who is not familiar with the house such as relatives , the closest switch to the door when you open the door and walk in lights up the room or hall. It's not a strict rule but a common guideline and usual personal preferences.

In the UK, there is no set rules, but the norm is to have first switch for nearest light, and the second one for the next room, I can't see any problem what way you do it,as long as its wired correctly
