If western atheists were being honest they'd say their atheism is based on that they don't believe in?

the Christian God, all the other gods and religions of the world to the western atheists are an after thought meaning the western atheists main target is the Christian..

What I would like to know is do eastern atheists feel the same way towards the gods of their cultures and are they not too fussed over Christians as western atheists are..

Like for instance are there atheist Indians on religion and spiritual forums having arguments with Hindus saying there are no gods with elephant heads and no gods with three, four or eight sets of arms, whilst they look at Christianity as an after thought..

Update:

@sebastien: I've seen a few of your answers, how little do you know, you need to read the question through then think before you answer mate..

    Hey Frizby,

I ave seen a few of your questions about atheists: you have a fascination for atheists that borders on obsession mate..

anyway this particulr question is the cherry on the cake: this shows how you understand very little of atheism...an atheist does not believe in god...allah,,basically in any supernaturl athropomorfic being that would lord over us for his own inscrutable purpose..

but thinking that there is a difference between a wester athist and an easter one is quite frankly the most ludicrous thought I have heard so far in my life...

one last thing mate..what about you focus on your religion,on your faith and live your life without trying to proselytize others...

I disbelieve in all imaginary beings the same. I disagree with western Christians more often only because of proximity. I don't disbelieve in god less than thor, I just encounter more god believers to disagree with.

Are you sure you understand what an atheist is?

Western Wiccans aren’t atheists simply for not believing in Yahweh. Atheism means not believing in *any* gods.

Living in the American south, no one has yet tried to convince me Lord Ganesha exists, but if someone did, I’d be completely willing to question their beliefs too. But so far, Hindus haven’t proselytized to me, nor campaigned for religious favoritism by putting “In Ganesha we trust” on our courthouses, nor making children recite “one nation under Ganesha” in our public schools.

No point arguing with my Christian neighbors about Lord Ganesha, since we already agree about him, and about every other god human beings have come up with ― except one.

It's always easy to see other culture's gods are silly. Everyone....even the Christians can see it.

All we do is turn that same exact thinking toward what we were raised to believe.

I'd laugh at a Hindu too. They just don't put themselves out there the same way so I barely notice them

American fundamentalists don't behave themselves like Hindus do. There's your difference.

Nobody fights against a religion that isn't fighting. Notice atheists never say anything about Wiccans, which is largely a western religion?

I have no 'targets'. I simply get on with my life without religion or gods of any flavour.

To be an atheist is as natural to me as not believing in father christmas, fairies, pixies, dragons, wizards or unicorns. It is not a rejection of anything as I see nothing to reject. It is just a natural state of being as far as I am concerned.

Well of course my atheism is based on what I don't believe in - that's what atheism is.

I don't believe in any gods anywhere, any time - no heaven, no hell, no elephant god, no nothing.

    Understand? Good

Christians try to convert me more often then Hindus do. I always assumed this was because of my region, but it's also possible that the Christians are just less tolerant of me.

I have a problem with fanatics, not christians. To answer your question, no. I personally think fanatical christians are just as bad as fanatical muslims, hindus etc.

Well, I've never had a Hindu at my door, telling me to give myself to Vishnu or burn forever. If there were, I'd be more pointed in my Vishnu criticism. What's your point?
