Advantages of Nexus phones?
I'm thinking of getting an android phone for app development, and I've heard that I should get the Nexus 4 because it is unlocked and therefore developer friendly. However, I would much rather get a higher-end phone like the HTC One but still be able to develop apps.
My question is: What advantages do unlocked phones like the Nexus 4 have over other android devices, such as the HTC One, for application development?
I know about the Google Play version, but it costs $500+ and there is no way I will be able to afford it.

They get the android update the fastest, so you can get the bugs fixed fast for the new version of android. If you want the HTC One, there is a Google Play edition that acts like a nexus device, and has pure android on it.
