Does the actual act of passing a kidney stone hurt?

    It depends on how large it is but I've heard that the pain is unbearable.

    I had one that had to be broken up with a laser because it was too large to pass. But before surgery, when it started to move, it felt like I was being stabbed with a hot knife.
