Electrical engineering question?

My husband is thinking about going to school to become an electrical engineer. I am wondering if anyone out there has any useful information like, does he have to go to school full time or is part time ok? Does working as an engineer take over your life? Any other useful pieces of information you can offer would be great

Thanks.

He can earn a EE degree part time, I did it. Studying though take a lot of time after work. And it takes longer 8+ years. If you are OK with that then he should go to school.

Working as an engineer does not take over your life. Many engineers work 'normal' hours; home in the evening.

Electrical engineering is a broad range of education. He would have to specialize in some field of electrical engineering to get a job after he graduates. For example, my father worked for construction company to design electrical requirement to build a factory or he'd go to oil rig and design the electrical grid for operation. Unless he intend to get a job in those, he'll have to wait in a line until someone dies to fill in that position. There's also circuit design but most of that has moved off to computer engineering and no longer part of electrical engineering. Although both shares common courses they are two different studies and diploma.
