I can't drive a golf ball in front of people?
I drive the ball well on the range; however, I can't when people are watching me on the golf course. I know it's mental, but I have no idea how to overcome these jitters. I just lock up!
I also realize that there are other variables that affect my driving on the course (i.e., aiming away from trees and water, standing on grounf that is not flat, using tees instead of practice tees, etc.). But I can't help but think that the majority of the problem is in my head. How do I beat this?

Troy, this is something that all golfers who enter tournaments or a crowded golf course goes through. Try a narrow view of the target (green) the club and what is in front of you. Make certain you do not force the swing (especially) the back swing. After the slow back swing remember the basic golf process, the shoulders and hips supply the power, and the arms and hands guide the club. Do this routine every time you address the ball. Think that you are alone and going to hit the golf ball and there is no one around except your companion golfer.

Find a routine to carry out every time you tee the ball up to drive it. First, make sure you have a sound swing. Next find a stance and position that is most comfortable for you to perform a successful tee shot. It is said that if a professional golfer lined up a tee shot 100 times in a row, that his feet, knees, hips, hands, etc. would be in the same position every single time he swung. If an amateur were to do that 100 times, most likely he would not be in the same position twice out of the 100. So make sure you are performing the same swing on the course as you are on the range.
As for getting nervous in front of people, use that nervous tension to get excited at the possibility of bombing it down the fairway instead of being nervous that you will suffer a mishit.

a routine will help, but you can use that nervous energy instead of letting it abuse you
next time grip down and shorten your back swing and follow through knowing that extra energy will make up for it and the ball will travel just as far, if not further

Focus on your shot take a long easy back swing pause at the top and start swinging with your knees and your arms swinging through.
