How long does one have to file charges after the initial complaint?

Ok, the city has filed charges against me for disorderly conduct. The incident was on the 20th, and the charges were filed on the 24th.

    If you think they missed some kind of deadline you're way wrong. The Statute of Limitations (time limit between the alleged crime & filing of charges) varies by jurisdiction & crime. However NONE are as short as 4 days. It is, at ansolute minimum, 6 months, and usually is measured in years.
