When people talk of our "broken immigration system" what exactly are they speaking of?

You can ask the same question and get a different answer from everyone you ask.

Politicians say it though under for 2 reasons. GOP because we don't have enough cheap labor to do jobs far cheaper then Americans and thus immigrants are the solution. Cheaper labor and more business profit. DNC because after people immigrate legally and a generation passes they move up becoming more educated and less liberal in ideals. They tend to move away from the DNC current platform and thus more likely to vote conservative, The DNC see's immigration as broken as they can't get enough uneducated immigrants fast enough to be able to vote for who gives them handouts. For them its about votes and staying in power as they take money from the middle, upper, and rich class's to feed themselves and a little to the poor to enslave.

Citizens say its broken because we no longer are taking Immigrants from educated countries that agree with American values, morals, and beliefs. We tend to only take immigrants from 3rd world or lacking developing countries while making it impossible for immigrants from educated countries. Citizens are also seeing we are taking to many immigrants at a time and they are not being forced into the melting pot anymore due to this. Instead they form their own communities and demand we adhere to their culture, language, rules, ideals, values, and ethics. This happens when immigration is to big in numbers and especially from countries at major odds with the country they are coming to.

Immigrants say because it can take up to 21 years for them to bring adult family members such as adult brothers, sisters, parents, even cousins, aunts, and uncles can use certain extended family visa's. The old way which most support though is like the Nuclear Family Act that would only allow spouse and minor children. Rest would be barred except if they qualify on their own... NOT a family visa.

Illegal Aliens because they see it unfair how they can't get in right away or at all because the system even though we accept more legal immigrants every year then ALL other developed countries combined would still not let them all in and likely very few. They feel as *neighbors* usually we owe it to them to invite them in so they can have what we have. Other illegal aliens not neighbors just know they couldn't cut it legally so simply don't care about others and feel they should get in first.

Of course the ONLY group that should be listened to is the mainstream of US Citizens. Most who while may differ a little would generally agree with the same things. Of course that's the group we rarely hear opinions from as they don't have the money or time to buy politicians or protest as they are busy working hard trying to support families and millions of everyone else's as well.

Ohh and James isn't that educated it seems. Their is already the H2A Visa which provides unlimited Agricultural Visa's every year for seasonal temporary workers. The cost of it is negligible and its not that hard to use especially after the first time. However the catch is it requires workers receive a semi fair pay and have rights on treatment. More then many want to pay or do as long as they can get illegal aliens who they can use who have no legal recourse.

The Immigration rules for the United States are a labyrinth of laws and Byzantine rules - in addition, many groups of people are still under racist rules written in the early XX Century (Mexico, Eastern Europe, Africa, &c)

"Fixing" the Immigration system is a series of proposals aimed at streamlining and equalising the laws, and permitting new classes of visas (such as temporary agricultural migrant work visas, which would better allow the management of persons coming across the border).

Aside from the problem of employers hiring persons illegally (a Felony rarely prosecuted), migrants currently in the country illegally (a civil offence, not a crime) find it better to stay, as entering illegally is difficult and sometimes life-threatening. Such things as temporary visas for agriculture would allow persons to freely travel across the border without fear of death or abuse at the hands of others, and regulate the system of migrant agriculture work we currently have.

About your messed up old immigration system where uneducated immigrants can get green cards because there family is in the United States and Educated potential immigrants who are needed cannot move due to how hard work visa's are to obtain. The USA needs an immigration reform soon!
