Hey. I live in South Africa so prices might be different to you but one of the best headphones iv found that keep the music inside your head are Monster DNA On Black headphones. They have a well constructed pad for the ears which means you can wear them for long periods of time without getting too sweaty or hot. Go check them out, they very good. (These are R2500 around $180 - $240)

Otherwise check out the Skullcandy Hesh 2.0 (which I own) the don't require any battries or any maintainance. Plug and play. They are nice and loud and wouldn't even wake up a hamster sleeping next to you. These are much cheaper (R700 about $60 - $90) I'm very happy, they got nice sound quality for the price. Best budget headphones iv ever owned.

Look into Sennheiser - the highest numbering of model you can afford (model's names, for example HD201 is $25, HD202 is $30, HD203 is $45 .... HD448 ....).

    Audio Technica ATH-M150 ($150)

They have cheaper models like the ATH-M20, ATH-M30, ATH-M40FS, ATH-M35 - but the M50 considered really good (I'm not sure if they have more expensive models.... I assume they do).

Either way - look for a "closed back" type of built (should appear in the headphones specification) since this will prevent sound leakage, and offeres some (passive) noise isolation.

Source(s): Owner of Sennheiser HD 201 and Sennheiser HD203.

Sennheiser is the most affordable quality brand, other reputable brands Shure, Grado, Denon, AKG, Bowers & Wilkins, Etymotic, Beyerdynamic and Audio Technica are a bit more expensive.

German Maestro offers well-rated cans (GMP8.35) for around $240. Check these out.

Brainwavz also offers well-rated cans for half that price.
