why are bosses setting rules for employee personnel lives?

you cant date fellow employees or you cant post yourself in the buff on the internet or no kink clubs or other etc. i understand not letting your personnel life influence your work and to look professional while at work. but when an employee leaves. there life is there's and of course illegal activity or arrests are bad and be subject to firing and what not. but anything that is legal i do outside. is my business. why is it managers or owners are allowed to tell you what to do outside the business? like the teacher who posed naked on the internet and was suspended. that was her business. she wasn't on school property or during business hours.

Update:

crystal- i am a nudists and know a lot of nudists. and there not pedophiles quite the contrary. there even more alert. they even have there kids attend with them. they just have an idealism of not making there kids ashamed of there bodies as they do. when kids are young. its funny. they will strip off there diapers in a crowded room. without a care in the world. and by the time there old enough to have hormones. they have seen naked people ten times over. if you believe otherwise. its a really naive. how old were you when you first saw another person naked.

Update 2:

lisa- i do not mind rules and regulations while i am at work. in fact i like them. it gives structure. but on my off hours away from the company. as long as it is not illegal. why shouldn't i be able to enjoy in that activity? letting companies say we cant do this or that when i am off is a form of slave master. unless there willing to pay me for every hour of the day. and night. i am having a hard time understanding why more people are not outraged at the fact that companies have taken a seat at there employees table and are demanding they be served. metaphorically of course. but really having this authority. its disgraceful.

Because they think they own their employees.

Employers want serious minded people who will do their work and don't have a dramatic life of extreme behaviors. People who have extreme behaviors are disruptive to the work place. They bring the drama of their personal lives to the work place. This is why employers drug test and also do financial background checks on employees. They want to know when you come into work, you are going to be sober and clear-minded and ready for work. It's the behavior of those who have embarrassed the company over the years which led to this requirement. If someone is working in a trusted role in the company, they don't want public photos of them that would shake confidence in the company's abilities and seriousness of handling client concerns.

If you don't like this, I recommend you go get an MBA, raise funds and start your own company. Fairly soon you will see you have the same sort of problems and will require the same things from your workers as the other employers do. It's just how business needs to run.

I know a lot if companies have no kin or partners in the work place. Also can loose your job by what you post of the internet. But no one should be allowed to tell you where u can and cant go or what you do in your spare time. Unless you work for government something like working with kids or pastor. Just my thought.btw .i wouldn't want to see naked pic of my kids teacher if he / she will do that she make try to mess with some of the students. Its just not good to see someone working with kids posting provoked pic.

It may feel unfair for you to follow the rules. But it's company's regulation. You can unionize with coworkers to fight the rules, or leave the place smothers you.
