The question is too generic my friend. What program? What operating system?
A generic answer is try ensure your operating system is fully up to date, check the program you're using is up to date and ensure that the program your using is compatible.
Take the name of the program you're using, put into google 'nameofprogram compatibilty windows 7' or whatever your operating system is. Also try looking for the program's forums online and see if anyone else is having the same problem.

Well probably your laptop‘s EMS memory can't afford such program.
You may change your memory bank to a high one.
