We adopted a 10 week old chihuahua last night and noticed today she has a hernia, she may have fleas or ticks?

& possibly worms?? She has diarrhea, and can't stop biting and itching at herself. We were told she is utd on her shots. We drove over 2 hours to pick her up and the woman had her wrapped in a sweatshirt and said "keep the shirt, its cold out." So we kept her wrapped up and headed home. We believe she did this to hide the hernia. Are there any suggestions of what I should do? I feel like as puppy buyers we got scammed and that breeder needs to pay the vet bills this is going to cost us or something.

So I assume you purchased this dog from a breeder and didn't get the dog from a shelter?

You're out of luck. You didn't sign any sort of contract, and this was clearly a shady woman. Who knows what this puppy has been fed, or what conditions it has been kept in, what temperament problems it may have inherited or what genetic problems it may have inherited as well. But, the decision is made and now you must deal with it.

Of *course* it is going to cost you money -- puppies cost money!

Take her to a vet. Tomorrow. All new animals need to see a vet for a wellness check within 48-72 hours of purchase, and the sooner the better. This is especially true for this dog. Bring in a stool sample.

The vet will check for worms (and probably worm her), start vaccinations, do a wellness check, and get you started on flea and tick prevention, as well as deal with the possible hernia. You'll also have to bring her in two more times, 4 weeks apart, for additional vaccinations, and schedule to have her spayed.

well i would definately frontline her and give her an over the counter wormer,,,, if she continues to have watery diarrhea, with blood in it,, then she probably has Giardia, internal parasite, and will need to be put on Fenbendazole wormer to clear it up,,,, as for the hernia, if you are referrring to a bellybutton hernia, dont worry,, they are harmless,,, they can always remove it when she is old enough to be spayed

i'd say no to sharing a mattress - instead of the alpha you develop right into a member of the %.. Its sturdy that he's utilising the practise pad although that is advisable to contemplate crate practise him. also I absolutely have discovered that they get quite lonely in the course of the day so a radio or television is sturdy yet a buddy is even better acceptable.
