Are white watermelons edible raw?

I've seen a couple of white watermelons online--ones with white or very light pink flesh--but I think I read somewhere that they're not edible straight and have to be candied or baked. I don't want to bother with that. Anyone know?

Update:

I'm specifically asking about white sugar lump watermelon, though I'd like to hear about any white types.

Actually, they are quite good simply chilled and cut into slices or wedges. No need to cook, pickle or preserve them. Some people find them to be less sweet than red, yellow or orange melons; I tend to think they are equally as sweet.

    Good luck and enjoy!

You mean the ones with the white meat?

Yes, they are edible raw. I've eaten some that were quite delightful.
