Can you play ps3 games on ps4 (gta5)?

Sorry, but no the games on both PS3 and Xbox 360 will not be compatable with the next Gen consoles. I am dissapointed about this as well, however it has not been confirmed but rockstar may be making a GTA 5 for Xbox One and PS4 in the future.

Yes and no. No you can't put a PS3 disk into the PS4 since they use different architecture so it can't read it or something. It's a bit complex. But in 2014 Gaikai will launch and will allow the streaming of most PS3/2/one games onto the PS4. All the bestsellers will be there like The Last of Us, Uncharted 3/2/1, all the Call of Duty games (unclear if multiplayer is suported) GTA III, Vice city, San Andreas, IV and prosumably, GTA V

Well, this is a yes and no answer.

If you buy GTA 5 as a PS3 disc, you will not be able to play it on your PS4 because its not backwards compatible.

However, if you buy GTA 5 as a digital download on your PS3 via PlayStation Store then you will be able to play that on your PS4 when the Gaikai Streaming Service launches on the PS4 in 2014.

Yes if you make your PS3 games digital. It is a feature included in the PS4 however Sony do charge a fee for you to do this. You can't just put a PS3 disc in though, that won't work.

Okay, Rockstar is really annoying when it comes to releasing games. They always announce them years before releasing them, just to tease the public, and they release the games on OUTDATED GEN consoles, like they did with San Andreas. Then they release the PC version (half an year after the console one), and THEN on next gen consoles. So you can't sell your bloody PS3 because you need it to play GTA 5. In your case you either have to buy another PS3 or wait for the PC version. I recommend the latter one

I just read that you can upgrade your ps3 games if you have a hard copy (disc) to digital and play on ps4. Example given was call of duty ghosts it will cost £10 to upgrade it for ps4...
