5$ entrance to a Halloween party?

I'm planning to organize a Halloween party this year for about 30 to 50 people. I do Halloween parties every year, but until now I did it at home for about 15 people. I have a possibility to rent a place for free, but there will be drinks and halloween food. I'm a college student and I think that I can't really finance food and drinks for this number of people, so do you think that it would be rude if I ask people to pay 5$ each to cover food and drink cost (or at least a part of it). People I would invite would be my friends, so that's people in their early 20s.

Update:

I'd rather like people to give me money than to bring food, snacks etc. because I'm planning to make my own food and snacks (with little help of my friends of course) which would all be Halloween themed.

I don't think it is rude. I would not mind paying $5 at the door if everything else was taken care of like food and drinks. I actually feel bad sometimes when I go someplace for free, and they say help yourself, and I feel like I'm freeloading. I would feel a lot better eating and drinking a lot if I paid $5 at the door.

For that many people, it's usually a pot-luck-type deal, where everyone chips in by bringing food/snacks/drinks to the party.

Otherwise, $5 per person is pretty cheap and a great deal.

You could also suggest $5 or bring something.

I think you should ask for a little less or tell everybody to bring something. Or you could could tell them 'Bring some food or $___' Good luck

You could do that or you could ask for a donation up to $5.
