A good mid rage graphic card?

I have a new pc Windows 8

3rd Generation Intel® Core™ i7-3770 processor (3.40 GHz with Turbo Boost 2.0 up to 3.90 GHz)

16 gigs of ram

Graphic is: NVIDIA GeForce GT 640 1GB GDDR5 for Win 8

I want to be able to play X rebirth very well.

I know the card I have for this pc is ok but I am wondering if it will run this game well enough. Moreover this card (i did not check when I bought it) only has one port so I can't plug my second monitor.

So I'm looking to buy a new vid card for my pc but my budget is limited. Around 100$,

Can anybody suggest a vid card and explain what it does compared to the one I have?

Thank you

Update:

If this card is already a mid range card (NVIDIA GeForce GT 640 1GB GDDR5 for Win 8

)

What would be the next best thing? Or will this card be enough for the game?

For $100, you're not going to be able to do much better than what you already have.

Mid range cards are cards like the GTX 650 ti Boost and the Radeon 7850. For a meaningful upgrade you're going to have basically double your budget.

Take a look at the graph on the bottom half of the linked page. Cards with a longer blue line than green represent a better value:

As a footnote, the Rage cards were considered all the rage some years ago, but now they are pretty trivial.

I would go with an i5-3570k processor and then get the Nvidia GeForce GTX 660 for 200$. Here is the link

*A GT640 is NOT a mid range card!

For $100? you'll be lucky. You already have a $100 card
